And wow, your little guys story is very similar to ours. Our son has been home a year and a half with a special need that was very risky. I know he was over looked because of the unknowns. But he too, is a walking miracle. We brought him home at age 6. I so relate to this post! :)anything but LoKEYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12431070571701938791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1332852631017609217.post-43558648548162636152012-08-16T19:45:42.247-07:002012-08-16T19:45:42.247-07:00Thank you for sharing your story. I think that Shawn may be in one of the pictures on the Spring newsletter of Sunshine academy with my son who's English name at school is Bobby. http://www.cohlc.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/CSF-Spring-2012-Newsletter-ENG-.pdf
It was so good to see pictures of the facility as I can better picture where my son has been for almost his whole life. I can't wait until I can be there to see it all in person. I so hope a family reads your post and it inspires them to look further at those little guys. my own little boys have a need that many people find to scary too... albinism. but to us its not scary at all. people hear the term legally blind and think... too much to handle... when in reality its not that big a deal. my boys ride bikes, go to regular school, are starting to be able to read words.... so yes! they can see... just not exactly the way we do... what they see is more pixalized and they need things closer.. but w/ magnifying aides when they get to the older grades in school they'll do fine.... and for now in prek type books they are able to point out letters and pictures just by holding books a bit closer... all in all not a big deal.

thanks for sharing your beautiful family!
-JenniferThe Cloutiershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14546788866957980795noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1332852631017609217.post-19794282400660275322012-02-26T07:53:03.310-08:002012-02-26T07:53:03.310-08:00Beautiful! I had met her and had faith that whatever the issues were/are, we could handle it. She is home 2 months today and a total miracle. Not without her challenges, but not nearly as challenged as anticipated!!! I wish more people would consider these miraculous kids!! Shawn is precious!! He is the sweetest, cutest, happiest boy and I pray his story inspires others to take a chance on a child who has a diagnosis that might come with some unknowns or sound scary on paper.
